Coca-Cola is one of the most iconic drinks worldwide since it was introduced in the United States 13 decades ago. The brand is recognized instantly in every country and has a kind of an exclusive brand image. On that account we shouldn’t be surprised that haute couture and Coca-Cola go so well together.
We’re refering to collaborations between Coca-Cola and several high-end fashion designers. Over the years a succession of incredible fashion designers have contributed their talents to creating limited edition glass bottles and cans for the Diet Coke. Each designer has injected their own style and personality to help Coca-Cola celebrate it’s couture bottle: "a design icon in itself".
Nik Takkar, the person who helped Diet Coke with it’s Lagerfield campaign told Business of Fashion that a lot of consumer research showed a link between people that drank Diet Coke and a vested interest in fashion. "What we came out with was that a woman in the Diet Coke demographic aspired to Chanel and, so, by default, getting a partnership with Karl Lagerfeld was a very solid solution".
Another reason for Diet Coke to collaborate besides aspiration of it’s drinkers to Haute Couture brands is that it makes a good charity project. Coke has asked Moshino and Donatella Versace for example to put their stamp on the iconic bottle design to raise money for the victims who survived the devastating earthquake in Abruzzo, Italy (2009).
Anyhow, we’ve seen the most incredible and outstanding designs on the Diet Coke bottles and cans. Take a look at the most gorgeous designs of designers like Comme des Garçons, Marc Jacobs, Moschino, Karl Lagerfeld, Jean Paul Gaultier, Nicola Formichetti, Versace and Diane Von Furstenberg and other legendary brands.
