Ginger Cola Down Under
There’s a considerable chance that you’ve already heard the latest news: Coca Cola has released a new limited edition in Australia; a ginger-flavoured cola, to be precise. Rumours say that Coca Cola introduced this new variant for the Australian market as a consequence of decreasing sales figures in the country.
Regardless, it may prove to be a clever move, since the ginger flavour is trendier than ever “down under”. In the past year, the sale of ginger-flavoured drinks rose by six percent in the continent. Coca Cola even refers to ginger as a “trending flavour” in the country.
At the moment, it looks like the ginger-flavoured drink will remain exclusive to the Australian continent, since Coca Cola has not revealed plans to distribute it in other countries. It wouldn’t be the first time that the brand releases a limited edition with truly “limited” availability; only being available in a few countries. In Japan, people drink Green Tea Coca Cola; the vanilla flavour started in the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada, and Russia has an orange-flavoured cola on the market.
Whether the flavour would take off in other countries remains the question. Presently, the drink isn’t even a resounding success in Australia; opinions of the drink are still very much divided.
What do you think? Is it a go or a no-go?
