Kona Deep water
Although it is already a big hit in Asia, it is barely known in the rest of the world. We are talking about Kona ‘deep ocean water’. The name says it all; it is water from the deep ocean, available in bottles for consumption.
In any case it does sound rather very exclusive, water from the deep ocean. But what is so special about it?
The deep ocean water is taken from Hawaiian waters, but did not just get there like that. It is water that has been underway for about 1,000 years and covered a gigantic route. The water comes from melted glaciers around Greenland and Iceland and ended up around Hawaii after flowing for years. It is taken from an extreme depth of almost one kilometre and has a particularly cold temperature.
The source where the water is taken from is on the coast of Kona, Hawaii, far away from civilisation. Of course the question is whether this water is actually better for you, or if it tastes different from normal natural spring water.
Kona distinguishes itself on several levels. The deep ocean water, for instance, has a very rich supply of natural minerals as a result of millennia of volcanic activity on the ocean floor. These minerals are free from modern contaminants because they have been flowing for thousands of years in peace and tranquillity at the bottom of the ocean.
In addition, the water has a unique mix of common deep ocean electrolytes and trace elements found in the deep ocean, which are balanced to ensure that the body functions better and properly. Absolutely nothing has been added to this water. So it is purely natural.
It sounds promising, but where to get this water? At the moment, it is only sold in Asia, where it is particularly popular in Japan, and through Amazon. Turpin, president of Kona Deep announced that it will probably be available from March in the US, in specialty stores and shops that focus on health.
Will it catch on as well in the US and perhaps ever blow over into Europe? Let us hope so.
